If you didn't hold a title of reg pioneer/ms/ elder than basically you are nothing and that type of thinking never sat well with me.

Welcome to the forum !
lostwun here, i joined 2 months ago but am now just finding the courage after doing more research to formally introduce myself to the board and embrace my new beginnings as an ex-jw.
i am a second-generation jw.
i grew up with parents who are well known and very respected in many circuits.

Welcome to the forum !
hi i've been a jw my whole life and i'm 17 now.
i've never had a mine of my own and recently i started thinking more open minded and i know the being a jw isn't for me.
i feel like i've been in a bubble my whole life.
Whatever you do, don't get baptized.
Ditto. It was the single biggest mistake of my life. It kept me enslaved in the religion for years because I feared the consequences that being DF'd would bring.
the reality show "dating naked".
so the young lady said to the guy when they.
first met, wow must you look straight at my you know what.. are they running out of ideas for reality shows????.
Are they running out of ideas for reality shows????
Let's hope so
i ask because my gf, who knows all about my jw upbringing, convinced me to grow a goatee, just to see how it looks.
we both decided it looked good so i decided to keep it.
i tried to explain to her that as a jw, i wasn't allowed to grow one, but then drew a blank when she asked me why.

well, i have been lurking on this site for several months and i recently decided to join as a member.
i have made several observations and would like to make a few comments.. first, i am perplexed by the attitude of many on this site that are either former or active (but apostate) jws.
they seem to have a strong hatred for the wts and also for rank and file jws.
Why are you only exposing the so called lies that are taught by JWs but allowing people to promote other false teachings? Are the other lies just harmless?
Some are far more harmless than others. And if you've really studied the dynamics of this forum, you'd know that Christians don't get a pass from atheists for their beliefs. Faith, in general, is debated ad nauseum on this forum. And when people come on here promoting their own brand of Christianity, they get called out on it.
Edit to add: Welcome to the forum. Love the user name. I hope you stick around, though maybe you could tone down the judgment a little. Everyone has their own journey.

RIP Joe! One of the most unique and recognizable voices in rock and roll.
so most would now know of the vile act in sydney last week where a man held hostage over 17 people in the lindt cafe in the middle of sydney.. two people were murdered...a beautiful, educated lawyer, loving mother of three, and a brave, loving young man working as the cafe manager.. this senseless and cruel act has touched everyone deeply, especially in the communities of sydney.
the outpouring of grief and support for the victims and their families has been immense.. i was therefore outraged to have the following comment made by a witness in conversation at the kingdom hall:.
"well, we dont need to be sad, because at least now they (the two victims) will get a ressurection.
I remember hearing a similar comment from an elder after 9/11. I believe his exact words were "It's 3000 people who wouldn't have survived armageddon anyway."
The ease with which they are able to detach themselves from such tragedies is staggering. There's no need to invest emotionally in the lives of non-jws, because their god will sort it all out.
oh i do enjoy a good laugh.
i watched the naked gun movie last night i was surprised at.
how funny it still is or maybe i was just in the mood for some silliness.
Loved all the Zucker bros. movies back in the '80s- Airplane, Top Secret, Naked Gun.
an athist made this casual statememt on another thread:.
this would suggest to me that there are at least some atheists that do have consistant beliefs.. .
as an atheist, how could he possibly trust the reason that suggests this to himself?
"Hello? Perry? Perry? Hello?"
The line has gone dead...
He's just imitating his god.
